Plein air paintings are a breath of fresh air, panted outside, on location, without photographs. Traditionally used as studies for larger paintings, plein air works have become increasingly popular because of their fresh, vibrant, often expressive nature that captures the spirit and essence of a fleeting moment.
Next time you go outside, sit and watch how the shadows change, feel how the wind or snow or sun or rain feel on your skin, and imagine trying to capture it with just your eyes and some paint.
